Hi! I’m Randy, and I’ll be your friendly moderator… you can see my intro under the About header.
If you’re going to be hanging around, why not tell us a little about yourself? Things are a little quiet now, but I’m hoping it will get busy as time goes by; welcome to one and all.

It really is one of those rare moments when you know you just experienced something profound and new. Like the person who drove the first car, played the first piano. Everything in history is based on something. Even though the spacing of the key waves are based on a piano layout, this is something entirely new, amazing, and inspiring. I feel lucky to be alive to be one of the first in history to play this amazing instrument. You get the sense that this is the future, and in this moment only a few realize it.
You undoubtedly have the coolest domain name to bring people together to this place and talk about all things Seaboard, Equator and beyond. Hopefully I can contribute and share and help others out who are about to change their experience of instruments forever.

I´m Cinebient and i love to making atmospheric music of any kind. Mainly, like my name says, Cinematic and Ambient stuff.
I started some years ago with just an iPhone 4 and some iOS apps (even made an album under another name with it). Then got an iPhone 5 and iPad Air later. All the iOS apps and midi control like polyphonic pitchbend and polyphonic aftertouch with synths like Animoog, Mitosynth and a lot other great tools made it such a fun and innovativ to use.
But then the limits of the software and hardware bothered me to much and i got a macbook pro and added some bigger tools……
I always was interested in controllers like the Seaboard but they were too expensive for an hobbyist (maybe now an experienced hobbyist).
Finally i ordered and got my Seaboard Rise yesterday and was not sure if it´s the right thing for me.
I was so wrong…. the Rise and the Equator synth are the most “musical” tools i ever touched and it´s such a joy to create sounds with them. Coming from a touch based music production and migrated to the desktop world after that i have now the best of booth worlds. Also the Seaboard Rise works with most of the iOS apps too.
I hope Roli has a really big future because from the hardware to software to everything they did now it´s just fantastic for the future of music.
I see it exact like everyone else here, the Rise is a new dimension and affordable for the hobbyist too.
I hope that many developers will include the MPE midi as standard too in near future!

December 5, 2015 at 2:53 pm #548Randy WaltersKeymasterHi, movix –
Welcome! I hadn’t realized that my user icon was going to wind up being a default image for all subscribers; you may want to give yourself a custom icon. I’m not sure if that would be done through your WordPress account, or here on site. I’ll try to figure it out!

December 6, 2015 at 4:44 pm #554Randy WaltersKeymasterThis is hard for me to test because I’m in admin mode – but if you go to “My Profile” or “Edit My Profile” and actually click on the avatar image, it should let you change it. Good luck!
December 12, 2015 at 10:35 am #560danielParticipantHi all,
this is Daniel from Vienna. Happy owner of a Seaboard Rise as of two weeks ago. I’m a long time hobbyist keyboard player. I run the Equator on a Macbook Air, but haven’t been using it outside of my home so far.I am your vanilla flavor rock/pop keyboardist, with some background in synth programming. Apart from the Rise I use a Nord Electro, and an old Yamaha rompler, as well as various midi conrollers with Mainstage. In the closet there’s a vintage Hohner Clavinet C1 and a Korg MS20. But after testing the Rise in a shop in Berlin, I just couldn’t resist; I guess if you’re on this forum you’ll know why…
I’m mostly interested in discussing technical stuff about the Seaboard and Equator, hardware setups, programming tips, problems etc etc.
December 21, 2015 at 4:44 am #568jamesclarkParticipantHi, i am based in London (UK) and I am new to Roli with a RISE and am loving playing it. it’s an amazingly expressive instrument and, despite the limited number of key waves (25 always seemed too limited on other keyboards) i have not yet found it to be a problem,… I was worried that Id love it so much that I’d be compelled to purchase a grand!!
