Using the rise with Cubase is as simple as plugging it in and loading up a VST, I’m not sure all these setup guides are required!
It works flawlessly with multi-channel plugins like Equator with midi channel set to ‘All’ in Cubase and if you just set this to a single channel it works fine with mono-timbal synths. The only plugins that I need to switch the ROLI to mono mode are the sample-modelling ones.

jamesclarkParticipantThat’s an easy thing to get wrong, you need to change the slider mode by pressing the power button briefly once and the colour of the button changes and the three little icons (<>, etc) will turn off which means that the sliders are now transmitting MIDI.
In the other mode they simply change the sensitivity curve of the three key responses/dimensions
Hope this helps

jamesclarkParticipantif Roli allowed us paid-up users to send our own patches to the app then I’d use it, otherwise it’s just another cute toy
jamesclarkParticipantI too have trouble with ROLI dashboard. For me it always defaults to SINGLE mode and sometimes crashing on exit losing all setting and then when i reload many of the settings are scrambled and have to be reset. Roli have offered an exchange on the hardware claiming that it may be a damaged eprom but I will not hold my breath as others also seem to be having software/hardware interface problems.
I cannot use Bluetooth MIDI either with my MacBook 2014 as after about 5 min use it drops connection and usually leaves hanging notes which is really frustrating. There are clearly some problems with the firmware/hardware/software that Roli are producing and these really need to be addressed as a matter of urgency

jamesclarkParticipantgood.. I’ll leave that folder and start dumping things in there when I get back into the studio.
I have dragged that preset file to my presets folder and it appears and loads on the mac, but without my rise handy I can’t really play it but it does appear to load
James
jamesclarkParticipanton the mac
documents/ROLI/Equator for RISE/Presets/
for example:
/Users/James/Documents/ROLI/Equator for RISE/Presets/Horn Expressive.equatorpreset
would be interesting to see if this copies over…. I’ve uploaded this preset to here:
https://www.mediafire.com/folder/q4sohrpzmppb1/ROLI_Equator_Patches
can someone test, you can uploaded files too 🙂 Here’s a link to be able to upload
thanks

jamesclarkParticipantyes, that would be sensible, I’ve not found a way to do that so far….
jamesclarkParticipantHi, i am based in London (UK) and I am new to Roli with a RISE and am loving playing it. it’s an amazingly expressive instrument and, despite the limited number of key waves (25 always seemed too limited on other keyboards) i have not yet found it to be a problem,… I was worried that Id love it so much that I’d be compelled to purchase a grand!!
James
jamesclarkParticipantI have just picked up my RISE and although i have had a few software issues and a faulty firmware (which will be replaced in the new Year) I am having a great deal of fun playing it. I have found Equator a fascinating synth even without the RISE control but with touch, glide, slide and press it becomes a very expressive synth. I paired the RiSE with my iPhone too yesterday and played the rise via bluetooth with the phone in my pocket… great technology.
HOWEVER… I’m finding it hard to find more instruments to play on the RISE. I have Sample Modeling sax, flutes and viola which work amazingly well and WIVI orchestra (band brass and winds) which play astonishingly well on the RISE but I am struggling to find some nice fretless basses, strings etc which play weill on the RISE… it is worth setting up a database of instruments/plugins that work well with the RISE?
thanks
